Exactly! FWIW, on my personal newsletter (less than 100 subs ATM, but great open rates), I use the ad network. I'm not making my rent or anything, but I'm making some each send.
As long as your rates work for the advertiser, I figure why not?
Iβm at 1500+ in a targeted niche and the readers / network asked for itβ¦ they rather see peers and relevant ads, than having to pay for the subscription. Iβm switching over from paid memberships to classifieds and sponsorship for that reason.
One thing to add (maybe obvious) but a media kit is crucial to show that your audience is exactly the right fit, they engage with content, etc. So your open/click data, any facts you have from your welcome surveys or other polls, etc.Thatβs been a great aid for me to spark conversations and I think comforts advertisers as that is what they would get from larger players.
