Email Strategies for Promoting Your Mini-Course: Automated vs. Newsletter

·
·

I’m setting up my first “product” (mini-course) to sell, and want to send out an email sequence to promote it. Would I be best off doing this to a segment via an automated flow? Or do I send it out as a normal “newsletter”? All tips welcome hehe

If it's an email sequence that different subs can go through at different points in time, definitely segment + automation

And what if it was just something that “opened to my whole email newsletter at once”? Would you then send out the promos just as a broadcast (newsletter) or not? i’m wondering if this would maybe influence by normal open rate stats negatively as I imagine a sales promo sequence could get a lower open rate (although the aim would of course be to hit the same) I’d also hate to see people unsubscribe due to the sales sequence.. so wondering if there are any best practices, like letting them opt in, or something like that

Yeah, you could run a poll as part of your regular newsletter asking people to opt in via the poll, add them to a segment based on positive answers and launch them into the automation when added to segment

Caroline C. I am curious about how you are delivering your "mini-course" curriculum as I am considering doing the same. Was looking at using Skool or Migthy Networks, is there a more bootstrap approach?

is there a way to deliver courses 100% using the Beehiv website or perhaps premium susbscriptions?

Christopher F. I think it depends on what you want to have in there. I’m thinking now of doing it using 100% beehiiv, and using a free Slack for the community aspect. I’d include Loom videos in the emails. So like: video, text, link to homework (hosted somewhere, like my own site) I’d then sell it as a premium subscription, send out that automation just to the premium subscription, and archive the subscription after this cohort is over. Then I’d make a new one again later. And I’d make sure to tag those signing up for the first round of my cohort with something like [cohort 1]
