What do people find to be effective at improving click through rates? I feel the more I focus on writing analytical content, the less clicking I get as people read more
One of the BEST things I've found at improving CTR is using polls/trivia. It gameifys the newsletter and encourages interaction. Also, asking real, provoking questions that solicit responses. At my day job (soon to be my former job because I'm being laid off 😢 ) I've had a lot of success with getting our newsletter editors to talk to their audiences and ask them questions. And even asking readers to respond via a simple form/survey works.
Thank you, Logan!
I agree that adding polls help. But is that CTR worth anything since the what you really care about the CTR for sponsored Ads which can be very different that CTR coming from polls. (Unless offcourse the intent of polls is to learn and not merely drive clicks)
Not everyone values CTR merely for ad sales. I personally value you it as a way to gage active consumption of the content. The polls I run and the polls I tell the City Cast team to run are tied to the content in a way that pushes the experience forward. But polls/surveys to learn more about your audience, especially if you're clear on how that will be used to improve their experience, are also good.
I've got polls in there, but don't think it's doing much for core CTR on ads
