How to Fix Web Newsletter Styling Issues After Editor Update

Β·

I'm noticing that the web versions of my newsletter is looking a little wonky after what I'm assuming were some unintended styling changes that came with the updated editor. I'm going through and correcting errors I've noticed in posts I've already published tonight, but I want to make sure they're not duplicated in the web versions moving forward. I know the email style editor is in a sidebar now, but Is there a separate web style editor like there used to be?

For instance β€” my H3s in my newsletter are set to 13 px font size, with a specific color. They appear that way in the newsletter, but on the site version they're black. I'm going through and checking the styling in the styling editor β€” but when I save I'm not seeing that styling push through to the site so I'm assuming either there is a bug or I'm missing where the site editor would be

Or, for another example, my spacing on the web here is terrible, but the newsletter looks fine.

Following up for posterity β€” The spacing issues around the images were fixed overnight. I also had line breaks that had their spacing crushed from 30px to 0. I went through and changed those myself. The H3 issue persisted, but the workaround I'm using is to change it by updating the visual settings when I'm set to 'write' in the editor. Attached screencap shows where this is. I'm really disappointed that the team rolled out this visual editor update in a way that negatively impacted existing posts and templates. It's easy to critique from the outside β€” I get that, and I've been on the other side before. This has without a doubt required a lot of effort from the Beehiiv development team. The changes to the style editor make sense to me and I'm glad the team is always looking to improve the product. I'm just hoping that more caution is exercised in the future to ensure that existing templates and existing posts aren't negatively impacted by updates.

I think the Beehiiv team knows about the Trebuchet H3 bug... it looks terrible and hope it gets fixed soon.
