Best Practices for Setting Up Beehiiv Welcome Email Series

Beehiiv welcome email function question. I want to run our welcome series with multiple emails, should we set it up so the first email of that welcome series is the "welcome" email and the remaining emails in the series are part of an automation that's triggered by the welcome? or should we just put the whole thing in a single automation and keep the welcome email toggled off in our settings? i suspect the latter is better but i noticed there are toggles in zapier to send the welcome email and not. Any guidance on best practices?
