Struggling with Meta Tags for Personalized Newsletters?
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm struggling to get my meta tags working to personalise my newsletter 😬 literally spent 90 minutes trying to add {{first_name}} into the post. Can anyone help ?

I set to the custom field - double checked. Sent test emails to two different addresses and still no success

Which subscriber did you simulate as to send that test?

You didn’t set a default, so if the field doesn’t exist, nothing shows.

And if you didn’t simulate the test as a specific user, there’s nothing to set, and no default.

😬 I sent the test to myself - i have included my email in both the general and segment groups. So if I go back into custom fields do I need to add a default option as you have suggested EJ ? I'm not techie 😣
Bryan M.··With merge tags like these it's always advised to add a fallback. So if you don't have that field for a subscriber it doesn't show up blank. It could be something like reader in this case.

I've done that. All my subscribers in my segment have first names confirmed 🤔

You need to specifically simulate as a subscriber when you send a test
