This is actually incredibly normal and it's not because there's an issue with beehii deliverability. The problem is that when you're on Substack, their recommendations tool is auto-opt-in, so you have users who subscribe and then opt-in to your newsletter without realizing that they're subscribing.
What happens is that your newsletters never go to their main inbox because they don't realize that they're subscribing. But then when you move to beehiiv and you import them, your email hits their inbox for the first time, and they don't understand or know who you are, so they mark it as spam.
It's one of the ways in which Substack pretends to drive growth but really hurts your deliverability and prospects overall
