Dealing with Sudden Surge of Bot Accounts in Subscriber List

has anyone experienced something like this? i added about 1500 subscribers in 3 days (mostly from website direct) and 98% hotmail accounts with odd email accounts. seems like bot traffic or some sort of bot attack. anyone has any advice on how to deal w this?
