I ended up talking with a guy I know who is a cooking creator with 300k+ followers on IG alone and who started a newsletter.
He said he converts followers to email subs by;
Including a link in his description/bio,
Cutting the video somewhat short and including a cta within the video to subscribe to his newsletter for the full recipe
None of these are particularly wild tactics or could be fairly described as silver bullets. His advantage is he just creates amazing content and has worked hard to build an audience. The volume he gets in terms of views & reach from followers is the real key.
Also — I've also come across manychat, something I see a lot of creators use, though some say it has brought them problems. Do your own research there.
