How to Track UTM Sources in Beehiiv Sign-Ups

Does anyone know how to make it so that Beehiiv recognizes the UTM source someone signs up from? I thought it was just add "?utm_source=XYZ" to the end of your landing page link but it looks like when I sign up that way, the subscribes return as "website:direct (none)" and doesn't show me the UTM source

You're using a third party site?

It won't work if you're testing, it's based on first visit in a session, so if you've been to your site recently without UTMs that's what would come through. On a third-party site with a subscription form, you need to add our attribution script.

ah thanks πŸ”’[private user] and EJ W. it may be because I was putting in test emails. thought it would still work since I was incognito and was putting in random ones (not ones I have used before, not even real emails as far as I know) But I imagine that is the reason it's not coming through with the UTM source

πŸ”’[private user] EJ W. and yes I was signing up via Beehiiv So I just tested this link mail.newseum.io/subscribe?utm_source=youtube I had the email "trynewseum@gmail.com" signed up, but I just deleted it, went into an Incognito tab, and re signed up with that email. Looks like it is still coming back "website:direct (none)" Not sure why
