Handling Declined Payments and Membership Status in Stripe and Beehiiv

I have 2 user/members: after the 14-day free trail their AMEX was declined as "Lost Card" and 1 that had "insufficient funds." The rest of my customers have gone through, but how do I message these folks? Does Stripe message them? Does Beehiiv know or do I need to manually go in and remove them from the membership? If so, how do I change their status?
