Test Email Delivery Issues with HTML Content in Beehiiv

🧪 Test Emails Not Delivering When HTML is Included – Seeking Clarification + Advice Hey team — hoping to get some clarity or hear from others if they’ve experienced this: I’m currently running into an issue where test emails from the post editor won’t deliver when they include HTML content (even a basic welcome message with inline styles). ✅ My domain is fully verified — SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are properly set, and Beehiiv shows all domain statuses as Live. 🧪 When I send a test email using plain text, it works fine. But when I use formatted HTML (even simple styling and layout blocks) — the test email just… disappears. Not in inbox, spam, promotions — nowhere. 📥 I’ve tested with multiple addresses, including Gmail and mail-tester, and nothing is received. No bounces, no errors, and mail-tester doesn’t even register the attempt. 📽️ I recorded a quick video showing what happens when I send the HTML test version: https://youtu.be/w2WgFDYNw8I My questions:
- 1.
Is this a known limitation or behavior of Beehiiv’s test email feature when HTML is involved?
- 2.
Could this affect real campaign delivery too, or is it only a quirk of the test preview?
- 3.
Do we need to safelist our own sending domain for test emails to show up properly? (I haven’t done safelisting yet, since it feels strange needing that just to test my own draft.)
Any insight or best practices would really help — I’m trying to QA a campaign, but this issue has me second-guessing deliverability before launch. Thanks so much in advance 🙏
